Overview
About this department
The Roads Department is mandated to provide, maintain, and improve a safe, reliable, and environmentally sustainable road network that stimulates socio-economic development, job creation, and reduced road-user costs. The department studies, analyses, designs, upgrades, constructs, and maintains the National Road Network. Routine maintenance — including pothole patching, vegetation control, and drainage clearance — is handled by four district maintenance units with multiple road camps. Periodic maintenance work such as resealing, regravelling, road marking, and culvert and bridge repairs is performed primarily by contract.
